LEGO Halloween Decorations Under $50 for a Haunted Shelf

Six LEGO Halloween sets in one grid: bat wreath, pumpkin lantern, skull candle, flowerpot, Gremlins figures and black dahlia

Most Halloween decorations have a short career. They come out in early October, look tired by the end of the month, and land in a bin nobody wants to open. These six LEGO Halloween decorations under $50 are built to be kept. They look like real decor, and they come back out every fall.

Five sit on a shelf. One hangs on a door. Prices run from $19.99 to $49.99, which covers a spooky gift for a husband who decorates the porch like a competitive sport, a niece who loves a good movie, or a coworker with a bat on her cubicle wall.

LEGO Halloween Skull Candle – Gruesome in a Mostly Funny Way

$19.99 | 204 pieces | Set No. 40883

LEGO Halloween Skull Candle set with glowing green eyes and a flame on top, displayed on a rustic wooden side table

This is the cheapest set on the list, and it has the most personality for the money. A skull sits beneath a dark candle draped in cobwebs, with spiders on the web and a spilled bottle of poison at the base. It has a gold tooth. One pair of its eyes glows in the dark and a second pair is green, the kind of detail you notice on the third pass.

It measures over 7½ inches, a decent size for the price. And it's a brick-built candle, so there's no flame involved. The caveat is obvious: it's a skull, and plenty of people don't want one on the mantel. For everyone who does, this is the easiest yes on the page.

LEGO Gremlins Gizmo and Stripe Figures – For the Person Who Quotes the Movie

$24.99 | 230 pieces | Set No. 40919

LEGO Gremlins Gizmo and Stripe figures side by side on a wooden table, Gizmo holding popcorn and Stripe with a skateboard

Gizmo is the cuddly one with the big ears. Stripe is the green troublemaker with the white mohawk, holding a skateboard like he's about to cause a scene. Together they make a pair of chunky collectible figures and a quiet shelf-sized argument about whether the 1984 movie counts as Halloween or Christmas.

They're small. Gizmo stands over 3 inches and Stripe over 3½, so this is a desk or bookshelf piece rather than a centerpiece. At $24.99 for 230 pieces, you're paying for the movie as much as the bricks. That's fine if the recipient grew up on it and a harder sell if they've never seen it. Brickset's reviewer thought Stripe the better build of the two.

Gizmo gets a popcorn bucket, and the usual rules apply. Keep him dry, and don't feed him after midnight.

LEGO Black Dahlia Flower – Spooky Enough, Elegant Enough to Stay Out All Year

$27.99 | 358 pieces | Set No. 76784

LEGO Black Dahlia Flower set with deep navy and black petals rising from a dark pot with purple window panels

If a skull feels like too much for the person you're shopping for, start here. From across the room it's a black flower in a vase – elegant, a little eerie, easy to set beside real plants. Lift the flower out and the vase opens to reveal a tiny classroom from the Netflix series Wednesday, with removable desks, a stool, and two small figures: Wednesday herself and a teacher.

It measures over 9 inches high, which gives it real presence on a shelf. At $27.99 for 358 pieces, it's fair value, and Brickset's reviewer called the price reasonable for a licensed set. The one real knock is that the petals are decorated with stickers instead of printed pieces, so take your time lining them up.

Nothing on it says Halloween, so it can stay on the shelf long after the pumpkins are gone.

LEGO Halloween Pumpkin Lantern – The One That Glows From Inside

$29.99 | 323 pieces | Set No. 40872

LEGO Halloween Pumpkin Lantern set with a carved grin and a small pale green ghost floating beside it

Press the stem and the pumpkin lights up from within. That trick is the reason to buy this one, and it works best in a dim room or a window facing the street. A little ghost figure glows in the dark too, and attaches so it appears to float above the pumpkin. A spider is along for the ride.

Here's the honest part: it's small. The whole model is under 5 inches in every direction, and $29.99 is ten dollars more than the skull costs for a noticeably bigger piece. You're paying for the light. If a decoration that works after dark appeals, that's money well spent. If not, the skull or the wreath gives you more to look at.

LEGO Halloween Wreath – The Showpiece Among Halloween Decorations Under $50

$39.99 | 617 pieces | Set No. 40825

LEGO Halloween Wreath set hanging on a glass-fronted wooden cabinet, decorated with a purple bat, pumpkins, a ghost and spider webs

This is the only set here that hangs, which makes it the one for a door or a wall rather than a shelf. A big bat, pumpkins, a ghost, and a spiderweb are packed into a wreath that measures over 11 inches, and a string is included for hanging it.

On paper it's the best value on the list: 617 pieces for $39.99, roughly three times the pieces of the skull for twice the price. The trade-off is time. It's rated 12 and up, and it's the longest build of the six, so plan on a real project rather than a quick evening.

It's also busy. Bat, pumpkins, ghost, web, all at once, and some people will find that cluttered. That's a matter of taste. If the person you're buying for loves Halloween the way other people love Christmas, busy is the point.

LEGO Sally's Flowerpot – The One That Works for Halloween and Christmas

$49.99 | 346 pieces | Set No. 43288

LEGO Sally’s Flowerpot set with a colorful patchwork-petal flower growing from a pale blue pot on a wooden craft table

At $49.99 this set slips under the line with a single cent to spare. It also costs more per piece than anything else here – the wreath is ten dollars cheaper and has 271 more pieces – so what you're paying for is the license. Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas has a devoted following, and if the recipient is one of those people, this is the gift.

The set is a flowerpot holding two flowers made of bricks, along with Sally and a small black cat. Open the pot and there's a hidden room inside, a little kitchen where Sally mixes potions, with a cauldron, a basket, a table, and a spoon. Stickers do much of the decorating, inside and out. Closed up, it measures over 10½ inches.

The movie has never decided whether it's a Halloween film or a Christmas one, and neither has this set. That's the best argument for it. It can sit out from October straight through December without anybody asking why the decorations are wrong.

When the Haunted Shelf Fills Up

Fifty dollars stretches across a shelf. It doesn't stretch across a whole house, and LEGO Halloween Decorations for the House That Goes All Out is where the budget stops being a rule.

November arrives either way. LEGO Thanksgiving Decorations Worth the Centerpiece Spot handles the table, and LEGO Christmas Decorations Under $50 (Ornaments Included) keeps the same budget going into December. For the calendar as a whole, LEGO Holiday Decorations: From Easter to Christmas has every season in one place.
